Apple has announced a big update to one of its most underrated product, Find My.
Initially dubbed as Find My iPhone, Find My grew as an all-in-one hub to track your Apple smartphone, AirPods, MacBook, Apple Watch, and other Apple products. Now, the company revealed that it can now also track third-party products from other companies.
The Find My network is now available for third-party device manufacturers to utilize on their products. As per the company, third-party products with Find My support will come next week from brands like Belkin, VanMoof, and Chipolo.
Initial third-party products with Find My support include the Belkin SOUNDFORM Freedom TWS earbuds, VanMoof S3 and X3 e-bikes, and Chipolo ONE Spot.
Brands can also add the feature to their existing product as long as they are part of the Made for iPhone (MFi) product.
To be accepted, non-Apple products must agree to the privacy protections that Apple implements on its Find My network.
Once Apple approves a product, companies can use the special “Works with Apple Find My” badge on their products.
The Apple Find My app is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Macs. With the app, you can easily locate your missing device, play a chime, see its last location on the map, enable pairing lock, and other actions that will help you easily find it.
