Summary of improvements to the iPad (8th-gen) 2020:

  • Newer and more powerful chipset

Based on the spec sheet, the two iPads are pretty much identical and the improvements is basically about the chipset. From the A10 Fusion, the latest iPad 8th Gen now runs on the A12 Bionic chip with a Neural Engine. According to Apple, the new iPad is claimed to offer a 40% faster CPU performance and a 2x better in graphics performance. That means, the new iPad can provide users with better performance especially if they’re using it for creative purposes like video editing on the go or writing notes or creating artwork using the Apple Pencil. That also means longer support for software upgrades.

Apple iPad 2020 (8th-gen) price:
• 32GB – WiFi Model – PHP 18,990 | WiFi + Cellular Model – PHP 26,990
• 128GB – WiFi Model – PHP 24,990 | WiFi + Cellular Model – PHP 32,990

Should you upgrade?

If you’re coming from the 7th-gen, there’s not much reason to upgrade unless you really need that CPU upgrade. It’s a better recommendation though if this is your first time buying an iPad and you’re on a budget. But if you have a bigger budget and want your next purchase to provide you with lots of upgrades, then we recommend getting the iPad Air 2020, instead.
