Apple has recently issued a recall of their popular AirPods Pro. It seems some of the units are defective, experiencing sound issues.
Only those units manufactured before October 2020 are affected. If you’re experiencing crackling or static sounds while using it or you noticed that the Active Noise Cancellation does not work as expected, then you might have one of the defective units.
An affected AirPods Pro may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:
– Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
– Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
According to Apple, authorized service providers will service the affected AirPods Pro (either left, right or both) for free. The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
