Under an alleged case of theft that sees Apple’s recyclable products having gone for illicit reselling via a partnered firm, the giant tech company is suing Geep Canada for its over 100,000 products that never saw the bin for repurposing.
Apple is known for its green approach in its business by choosing to repurpose on parts from devices that could otherwise just add to the pool of electronic wastes. The company has been active in this eco-friendly campaign since as early as 2014, which sees it making a commercial tie-up with the recycling firm, Geep Canada.
In a report by The Logic, Apple approximates that as many as 100,000—probably more, if counting non-LTE devices—of their products, which are meant to be scrapped and its parts be reused, have been stolen by Geep Canada. A claim which the latter itself openly admitted.

However, the recycling company calls for its three employees who hold senior management position as being the culprit to the crime and it all happened under the company’s radar. Thus, leading to a counter-claim against Apple, which the company filed just this past July.
Although fresh to people’s awareness, Apple’s filing of a complaint against its former business partner began early this year, back in January. Furthermore, the case was originally brought to Apple’s attention since late 2017 or early 2018, consequently leading to the separation between the two companies.
As compensation, Apple is asking a pay equal to the total revenue generated by the stolen goods in addition to $31 million Canadian ($22.7 million US).
