The competitive team Bren Esports, which lost their first two matches during the first week of MPL Philippines Season 7, is being accused of match-fixing.

To add fuel to the fire, the team’s support player Carlito Ribo posted on social media a now-deleted photo showing off bundles of Php1,000 bills with a caption “Ez money,” not long after their second match, when they were pitted against Nexplay.

In defense of his photo and to address the match-fixing allegations, Ribo made another social media post to explain that the money came from the business earnings of his girlfriend.

He also said that the team merely lacked practice, hence their losses. He finished his post by calling the naysayers idiots and asking ‘Hindi ba kami pwede matalo?’

The MPL PH Season 7 will continue through June 6th, with $25,000 as the winning/championship prize. Besides Nexplay and Bren Esports, other participating teams include Aura PH, Cignal Ultra, Blacklist, and Playbook Esports.
