Canon Philippines has confirmed that their latest mirrorless cameras compatible with RF lenses, the EOS R5 and EOS R6, will be launching locally on August 12.
Both models will come with new full-frame CMOS sensors, with the EOS R5 featuring a 45-megapixel sensor capable of recording uncropped 8K video up to 29.97 FPS. Meanwhile, the amateur-friendly EOS R6 features a 20.1-megapixel sensor capable of recording 4K video up to 59.94 FPS. As for continuous shooting, both cameras are capable of shooting up to 12 FPS when using the mechanical shooter and up to 20 FPS when using the silent shutter.
The EOS R5 and EOS R6 also come with Canon’s advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, utilizing up to 100% coverage of the AF area, as well as the EOS iTR AF X that incorporates AF tracking algorithms using deep learning, enhanced readout speed of the CMOS sensor, and the DIGIC X image processor. The 1,053 automatically selected AF Zomes can also detect the human eye, face, or head, as well as the eye, face, or body of animals. Both cameras can shoot in the dark, with the EOS R5’s Auto Focus Sensitivity of EV -6, and the EOS R6 at EV -6.5. As for the ISO, the EOS R5 has an ISO range of 100-51,200, expandable up to 102,400. The EOS R6, on the other hand, has an ISO range of 100-102,400, expandable up to 204,800.
The bodies have also been improved, with both cameras incorporating a 5-axis camera-shake blur correction In-Body Image Stabilizer function. It can coordinate with the RF Lens’s IS using a new algorithm thanks to the new imagine engine to process gyro signal data to achieve higher image stabilization effects.
Additionally, both cameras now have two card slots, with the EOS R5 capable of accommodating one CFExpress card and one SD card, while the EOS R6 can accommodate two SD memory cards. Lastly, both cameras are built with magnesium alloy bodies with dust and drip-proof construction. The EOS R5’s shutter is also rated for 500,000 cycles shutter durability, while the EOS R6 has a 300,000 cycles shutter durability.
Stay tuned for details on its local pricing and availability as we cover its launch on August 12.
