In a Senate committee on public services hearing, DITO revealed that they plan on introducing fixed broadband services to household consumers in the next two years.

That’s after the company rolled out its commercial services back on March 8, which currently caters to mobile users. As per Tamano, of 22,748 that signed up, only 6,597 were qualified or owned compatible smartphones. By March 9, they managed to pull in 7,586 subscribers.

Currently, DITO’s services are only available in Metro Davao and Metro Cebu. Tamano claims that it should arrive in Metro Manila sometime in May or June.

Moreover, the executive said that they expect to achieve positive EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) in three years, which would help them gain “true profitability” in five years.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) cleared the publicly-listed DITO CME Holdings Corp. to have a share-swap transaction with DITO Telecommunity.

It involved the 100% acquisition of Udenna Communications Media and Entertainment Holdings Corp. shares. That’s in exchange for the DITO CME’s 11.2 billion shares in favor of Udenna.
