Over 2.28 million users of MeetMindful.com are at risk of identity theft and other cybercrimes, as a black-hat hacker group has managed to steal these users’ confidential, personal information from the dating site.

Per a ZDNet report, the group known as ShinyHunters has uploaded 1.2GB worth of data on a public hacking forum, allowing anyone with ill-intent to exploit the leaked information. Personal details retrieved include real names, email addresses, body descriptions, IP addresses, and physical addresses.

The post in the forum has garnered 1,500 views so far. The number of downloads is not known, but it could be high enough to warrant concern among victims.

Of the many possible crimes one can commit using the data, sextortion seems the likeliest what with dating profiles and potentially leaked messages being used for blackmail. Victims may be threatened to pay the ransom or otherwise risk their secrets and perhaps extramarital affairs revealed to family and significant others.
