In an in-depth performance and power efficiency analysis made by AnandTech, it’s been revealed that Samsung’s new 5nm fabrication process improves power draw for the Exynos 2100.

Although, this new fabrication process is only on par with TSMC’s 7nm process. The test was done on the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 models of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This essentially debunks the initial rumors that Exynos Galaxy models will be finally more powerful than the Snapdragon variants.

Apparently, the Snapdragon 888 had better performance than Exynos 2100. That, while also being more power-efficient. Samsung’s latest chip still throttles faster than Qualcomm’s, resulting in lower performance under sustained load.

On the upside, the single-thread CPU performance of the Exynos 2100 is 27% better than its predecessor, the Exynos 990. Albeit, the memory latency has gotten worse as Samsung used an L2 cache.

Moreover, the Exynos 2100’s Mali-G78 GPU is 40% faster than the 990’s Mali-G77. Still, it lags behind Snapdragon 888 as its sustained workload performance is only as good as last-gen’s Adreno 650 found on the Snapdragon 865 Plus. You can check all the graphs and scores via the source link below.
