Public utility buses that ply EDSA will implement the “No Beep Card, no ride” policy starting October 1, Thursday.
Going cashless will make transactions faster and more seamless, improving waiting times for queuing passengers, as well as reducing the handling of cash and other interactions that may reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmissions.
“We want to ensure that commuters along Edsa will have a safer and comfortable travel, while at the same time providing them a more seamless and efficient system of public transport,” said Steve Pastor, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Road Transport.
The LTFRB advises commuters and passengers of the EDSA busway to purchase a Beep Card and load it up soon.
“We are envisioning that even more public transport vehicles adopt digital transactions means, either through QR codes, online payments, or tying up with cashless payment providers such as Beep,” adds LTFRB Chair Martin Delgra III.
