Facebook’s messaging app, Messenger, announces Watch Together feature that allows users to share videos with friends in real-time.
As its name suggests, the latest feature allows Messenger users to watch videos under Facebook Watch together. Videos that can be viewed include trending clips, movies, sports highlight, makeup tutorials, and even original content from Facebook Watch. Through Watch Together, users may simultaneously watch the video and see each other on Messenger via mobile.
Users may also go back and rewatch videos with friends that they have previously seen or uploaded on Facebook.
Facebook also says that the feature is also ideal for content creators who want to engage their community in their videos via Messenger video call. The social media network has recently partnered with celebrity fitness trainer Melissa Alcantara in creating a series of fitness videos to enable people to virtually work out with their friends.
Here’s how to use the Watch Together:
1. Start a Messenger video call or create a Messenger Room.
2. Swipe up to access the menu and select Watch Together.
3. Choose a video to watch from the selection.
You may select videos that are suggested for you or go to categories such as TV & Movies, Watched, or Uploaded. You can also search for other content in the search bar of the Watch Together feature.
The Watch Together feature can accommodate up to eight people on a Messenger video call and up to 50 people in Rooms. It is free to use and is currently rolling out globally in Messenger and Messenger Rooms for iOS and Android.
