An Instagram user from New Jersey has filed a complaint against Facebook over alleged spying through illicit access to the device’s camera, raising a case that the company had originally contended with last July.

Brittany Conditi filed the accusation last Thursday at the San Francisco Federal Court pointing to a malicious practice that gets the social media platform “lucrative and valuable data on its users that it would not otherwise have access to.”

Furthermore, Conditi argues that, through the act of “obtaining extremely private and intimate personal data on their users, including in the privacy of their own homes,” both Facebook and Instagram are getting ahold to “valuable insights and market research.”

Facebook has yet to make a statement involving the claim.

Meanwhile, just last month, Facebook received a lawsuit over its use of facial-recognition technology that gathers without authorization a biometric data of over 100 million of its IG users.

In its defense, Facebook has denied the validity of the claim, citing the notion that it does not employ facial-recognition technology.

As for the previous case that criticizes the social media company of illegally accessing the device’s camera while users are on Instagram, Facebook stated that it was due to a glitch.
