Facebook and Spotify have formed a partnership that allows the latter to provide its streaming music and podcast services into the former’s app.

Specifically, Facebook users with Spotify subscriptions will now be able to use a new miniplayer in the news feed. The feature is available to both free and premium Spotify subscriptions, with the free version limited to the service’s ad-supported shuffle mode. User-uploaded content from Spotify can also be shared, with listeners being able to play it in the background as they scroll for content.

The Facebook-Spotify integration has rolled out to 27 countries starting April 27 on both iOS and Android. These countries include the US, Thailand, Australia and Canada. Unfortunately, the Philippines didn’t make it to the initial list, though Facebook plans to introduce the feature to more markets over the coming months.

Facebook’s partnership with Spotify is part of its Project Boombox initiative to increase audio-based activities in its social network.
