GMA recently launched its DTV receiver box called as GMA Affordabox. Only a few weeks after its release, the network has announced that it will add new channels on free-to-air TV.

The GMA Affordabox retails for a price of only Php888, much cheaper than the Php1,499 price of its competitor, the ABS-CBN TVPlus. The device provides a better and clearer reception on GMA’s main channel, GMA News TV, and the Heart of Asia channel.

Aside from DTV channels, the Affordabox can also record clips from the aforementioned GMA channels. It can also serve as a multimedia player that can play videos and music through its USB port.

During its annual stockholders meeting, GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon said that it has already exceeded the target with 600,000 units of Affordabox sold in its initial release.
