The Gionee K30 Pro has been announced and with a bizarrely outdated feature.
Before we get to the weird stuff, the Gionee K30 Pro actually looks really interesting in photos. The circular camera glass on the back looks like the Mate 30 Pro from last year. Oh, and please don’t get it confused with the Redmi K30 Pro.
The glass houses the 16-megapixel main camera, an unknown ultra-wide sensor, and a bokeh camera. Completing the cross pattern is the fingerprint scanner, with the LED flash in the middle.
On the front, we have a large 6.53-inch IPS screen, with a notch on top for the 8-megapixel selfie camera. The renders show that it has an in-display fingerprint scanner and prototype-like ultra-thin bezels, but we highly doubt that’s real since it’s not an OLED panel.
Under the hood, it’s powered by an unnamed 2GHz MediaTek octa-core processor, with 128GB of storage and an option between 6GB or 8GB of RAM. It also has a 4,000mAh battery.
But what makes this device really bizarre? It runs on Android 7.1.1 instead of Android 11. A mobile OS from four years ago. If you’re interested in owning this device for some reason, it has a starting price of CNY699 (around Php5,100) for the 6GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/128GB is at CNY799 (around Php5,900). It’s available in White, Blue, and a blue/purple color gradient.
