Globe is continuing to build its 5G network, prepping its launch in the coming weeks, after transitioning from MECQ to GCQ.
As digital connectivity becomes more and more crucial during the quarantine period, Globe has been aggressive in expanding its 5G coverage in the metro, specifically in the Makati and Bonifacio Global City Central of Business Districts (CBDs).
Last February 2020, Globe has started to showcase its 5G mobile network to select Platinum customers. In the coming weeks, Globe is expected to make the service available to even more Platinum and Postpaid mobile customers who are within the 5G covered areas. Additionally, Globe will be launching more affordable 5G-capable phones to the market, to push the new network further. Globe is also looking into new ways to make its new network more relevant with new technologies, such as augmented and virtual reality.
Globe Chief Commercial Officer Albert De Larrazabal has stated, “Globe is doing this in solidarity with Filipinos who are on their way to getting back on their feet. In response to what seems to be increased dependence on digital among our mobile customers, we want to make the 5G experience progressively available to more of our mobile customers at the soonest possible time. As we all look forward to better days, 5G will definitely hasten the digital transformation in the country as businesses, the government, and its people move towards digitalization.”
