There’s one more reason why folks should pay a Google One subscription: the ability to use a virtual private network or VPN.

Officially called VPN by Google One, the service will allow users to explore the Internet through a secure, encrypted connection on Android phones, allowing users to browse anonymously and even gain access to geo-restricted content.

When connecting to public Wi-Fi networks, for example, submitting personal and credit card information is risky what with possibly nearby hackers sniffing on important data. In such a scenario, the new VPN by Google One claims it can provide peace of mind.

Activating the VPN service is as simple as flipping a toggle in the Google One app. It’ll be available for paid subscribers on 2 TB and higher plans in the next few weeks starting with the US, with more countries to follow. It will also arrive in iOS, Windows, and Mac after some months.
