What was Android like before it was commercially released to the public? The prototype phone Sooner gives us a glimpse of the early version of Google’s mobile operating system.

The Sooner was a reference device that even predated the HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), officially known as first Android phone, and was used for Android development purposes.

So why bother trying the prototype phone? For one, there’s the nostalgia factor. For another, you’ll appreciate how vastly Android has improved for the better. It’s amazing the Android build on Sooner more or less works for the phone, knowing that the OS was initially designed as smart camera system.

If you want to learn more about it, Android Police shared their experience in using the phone here.
