Hewlett-Packard (HP) becomes a bigger company today after closing a deal that lets it acquire the popular PC peripheral maker, HyperX, from Kingston. HP proclaimed about the large business deal last Wednesday.

Prior to the procurement, HyperX is known as the gaming division of Kingston Technology Company. Kingston, without HyperX as a subsidiary, will continue producing its own electronic products as an independent enterprise, said HP.

The American company, who recently introduced a slew of products under the Omen brand, is looking to bolster its gaming portfolio with the acquisition and is taking it as a leg up against existing competition. In particular, against more established labels, like Corsair, Razer, and Logitech.

Existing HyperX consumers who fear that the Ngenuity app might be affected by the business arrangement need not fret, however, as it will not be absorbed into the Omen Control Center.
