There are many things in this world that feels rather constant. Often, because we tend to overlook them and, if we do, almost always look the same as if immutable to change. One of those things is the often neglected presence of the sun.

While there are a few good reasons why no one dare pay attention to the sun as much as possible, this celestial entity remains an interest for people, especially the likes of NASA. So much so, in fact, that the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is established back in June 2, 2010.

To celebrate SDO’s 10-year mark this year, NASA has compiled a footage depicting lapses in the sun throughout its decade-long monitoring.

Compiling a video footage based on a 10 year observation might seem be too much for the average person’s viewing habit. But NASA circumvented this issue by making a 61-minute video out of it all, which is essentially a result of compressing a day’s record to just a second display in the presentation.
