Honor just launched three new laptops that are powered by AMD Ryzen processors at its IFA event.
The new Honor MagicBook Pro is the Ryzen version of the initial model that shipped with an Intel processor. It’s now powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H APU, which comes with a 6-core, 12 thread CPU, with a 3.0GHz base and 4.0GHz boost clock speeds, and a 6-core GPU at 1.5GHz.
Keeping it cooled is a dual fan, with dual heat pipes. It also has a dual-channel 16GB DDR5 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD.
The display uses a large 16.1-inch FHD panel with 100% sRGB coverage and 1000:1 contrast ratio. It’s undeniably large, but its aluminum chassis made it reasonably light at 1.7kg.
The Ryzen MagicBook Pro has a 56Wh battery that promisses 11-hours of video playback and charges via a 65W USB Type-C cable. Speaking of which, port selection includes a single Type-C, USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0, and a headphone jack. We also have a fingerprint scanner Huawei’s signature retractable camera hidden on the backlit keyboard.
Starting September 7, the Ryzen-powered Honor MagicBook Pro will be available in Germany and a few markets after that. It has a price of EUR899 (around Php51,500).
Next stop, we have the Ryzen Honor MagicBook 14 and 15. They are both powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor, an upgrade to last year’s Ryzeon 3000 models. It has a 6-core, 6-thread CPU with a 2.3GHz base and 4.0GHz boost clock speeds.
There’s also the built-in 1.5GHz 6-core GPU. Plus, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD storage.
Obviously, their key difference is the display and batteries. The MagicBook 15 has a 15.6-inch screen, while the latter has a 14-inch screen — both at FHD resolution.
The batteries are quite odd. Honor decided the 14-inch model to have a 56Wh battery, which is larger than the 42Wh of the 15.6-inch variant.
Both models will have 65W chargers that you’d plug in its USB Type-C port. It also has a USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, and 3.5mm headphone ports. They still have the same pop-up cameras and fingerprint scanners for easy login.

The Honor Magic 14 (8GB/512GB) has a price of EUR749 and will be available in Germany, France, and UK on September 21. Initial sales will come with a free Honor Router 3, Honor wireless earphones, mouse, and Honor backpack.
On the other hand, the odd Honor MagicBook 15 (8GB/512GB) model has a cheaper price of EUR699 and will be available in October.
