Honor has added two new smartphones in its popular Honor Play line.
The first Honor Play became really popular as a midrange device with flagship specs. That’s what they’ll try to replicate with the new Honor Play 4 Pro.
This thing is powered by a Kirin 990 processor, the same chipset found on the high-end Huawei P40 Pro. There’s a separate modem for 5G, has 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
We also have a decent 4,200mAh battery with Huawei’s signature 40W fastcharging.
Unlike the flagship Honor 30 series, the Play 4 Pro only has two cameras on the back. Albeit, they’re still pretty lavish with the main one sporting a 40-megapixel Sony IMX600 sensor with RYYB filter, while the secondary 8-megapixel sensor offers 3x of optical zoom and 30x of digital magnification.
It would be nicer to see an ultra-wide lens on the back. Thankfully, we have that on the front, which is great for group shots. This 8-megapixel sensor is sitting next to the 32-megapixel main selfie cam, inside a punch-hole on the 6.57-inch FHD LCD screen. No 90Hz refresh rate.
The Honor Play 4 Pro is now available for pre-order in China with a price of CNY2,899 (~Php20,300). It’s available in Magic Night Black, Iceland Illusion, and a gamer-y Mecha Blue color.

We also have the vanilla Honor Play 4. This sports a MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor with an integrated 5G modem. It’s cooled down by a large vapor chamber for better thermals when gaming extensively.
The battery is slightly bigger at 4,300mAh, but the charging speeds is now down to 22.5W.
An enormous 6.81-inch FHD+ IPS screen populates the front, with a small punch-hole notch for the single 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The rear cameras are less impressive, but the camera count makes up for it. Instead of two, we have four sensors here. It’s led by a 64-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel ultra-wide.
The Honor Play 4 is now available for pre-order for CNY1,999 (~Php14,000). Both the Honor Play 4 Pro and Play 4 pricing and release details outside China, especially here in the Philippines, are yet to be announced.
