Honor to unveil first phone since breaking off from Huawei - Android

The Honor V40 5G will be their first phone since becoming an independent brand.

Honor is set to unveil its first smartphone as an independent brand. The company was sold to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology, a consortium of agents and dealers last November.

The upcoming device will be called Honor V40 5G, and as teasers revealed will come equipped with a “GPU Turbo X graphics acceleration engine” that will offer an “unprecedented gaming experience.” It is scheduled to launch in China on January 22, 2021.

Honor first smartphone since breakup with Huawei

At this point, Honor has not yet revealed any details about the upcoming phone. But the rumor mill has already begun spinning.

Rumors point to a 5G-capable Dimensity 1000+ chipset with 66W wired fast charging and 55W wireless charging. It is expected to come with a 6.72-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

As seen on the teaser poster, it will have a pill shaped punch hole for the dual selfie cameras. It also appears to have four cameras at the back on a rectangular module with a large sensor for the main shooter.
