A lot of plans and suggestions are being made to prepare for the so-called ‘distance learning’ which will become part of the new normal we are now living in. 

With this kind of circumstance, a new house bill is being proposed to cope with the nature of online learning. House bill 6922 declares for government-owned TV and radio networks to work as a means of education during the pandemic. 

An online hearing was done by the Committees on Metro Manila Development and Basic Education and Culture. This discussion was headed by Manila representative Manuel Lopez and Pasic representative Roman Romulo.

The presence of Nepomuceno Malaluan, the undersecretary for the Department of Education (DepEd) was here too. 

Malaluan shared to the panel the plan of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, DepEd, as well as the Department of information and Communications Technology to use the equipment and network of IBC-13 for the purpose of Television Learning Program. 

The House bill will be sent to President Duterte come next month. It is one of the efforts to find a solution towards online education especially when a new school year is approaching.
