No matter how advanced gaming technology gets, there are still players who want to go down memory lane from time to time and play old NES, SNES, and even PS2 games.

Next-gen consoles such as the Xbox Series X and Series S, and even PlayStation 5, have some sort of backwards compatibility. Albeit, official support is very limited. Thankfully, there’s a way around it.

If you have a semi-advance skill in tinkering and a few bucks to spare, you can actually play NES, SNES, and PS2 games on the latest Xbox Series X or Series S using an emulator. It’s also possible to play PS1, PSP, SEGA Dreamcast, and Nintendo N64 using this solution.

Most games ran fine, but with minor stuttering from here and there.

The process requires a special Dev Mode app that costs USD20 (around Php960), allowing you to run the Xbox One XDK on the latest 2020 Xbox models. This will then enable the consoles to run UWP (Universal Windows Platform) apps.
