Huawei has unveiled the new MateBook X laptop which has a design that is slightly altered together with an upgraded touchpad. The device comes with few noticeable changes such as its weight that is reduced to, 1kg in comparison to the X Pro that weighs 1.33kg, and an impressively thin design at only 13.6mm. The design language remains the same as the Pro version.

The display of the Huawei MateBook X is smaller at 13-inch from 13.9-inch on the Pro version. However, the resolution remains as 3000 x 2000 pixels with an aspect ratio of 3:2.

Huawei MateBook X promises sRGB coverage of 100% and a maximum brightness of about 400 nits. As seen from the renders, the bezels are as thin as that of the X Pro. It is also equipped with a touchscreen and screen-to-body of around 90%.

The Huawei MateBook X is powered by an Intel Core i7-10510U and Core i5-10210U CPUs together with LPDDR3 memory of 8GB or 16GB, but with limited storage option of only 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Compared to the 56Wh on the X Pro, the standard MateBook X has 42Wh battery.

It no longer has USB-A connectors, so it uses two USB-C ports, which can also be used for charging the laptop. No new design for the keyboard, four speakers, and hidden camera, but the touchpad comes with a new design that can be compared with Apple’s MacBooks Force Touch touchpad.

According to Huawei, the touchpad recognizes multiple pressure levels, and the haptic feedback imitates the feel of pressing a real button.
