Huawei recently launched in the Philippines its latest smartwatch, the Huawei GT 2 Pro. It features a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD screen, Kirin A1 chip, and a battery that can last up to 14 days. Check out our initial thoughts below.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro, as the name suggests, is an improvement over the Watch GT 2 from last year. One of the first things you’ll notice about it is the design. Compared to the GT 2 46mm, it’s now less sporty but classier. You no longer have numbers on the bezel, just lines.
It’s more premium, too. Instead of stainless steel, the case is now made of titanium, while the glass is made of sapphire. It is also 5 ATM water-resistant, so you can use it for shallow-water activities like swimming. Display quality is similar to the previous model. We still have the 1.39-inch AMOLED with a 454 x 454 HD resolution. The resolution is decent with punchy colors and vibrant enough for outdoor use.
On the right, we have two textured buttons for power and function. Underneath are the sensors, a microphone, and a speaker.
The unit that we have is the Night Black color and uses a black fluoroelastomer strap. There’s also a Nebula Gray version with gray-brown leather strap. Just like a traditional watch, the straps can be replaced. It also has a decent weight to it but still comfortable to wear. The strap is soft and has a smooth texture.
The Watch GT 2 Pro works with Android (5.0 or later) and iOS (9.0 or later) but requires the Huawei Health app for set up and configuration. The setup is easy. All you need to do is switch on the smartwatch and open the app. Tap on Add device and pick the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro from the menu. Once paired, you can now update the firmware, change or download watch faces, and initiate exercise activities
For its features, it supports 100+ workout modes, such as climbing, outdoor running, rowing, surfing, tennis, etc. It also has a VO2ma sensor to measure oxygen consumption, GPS tracking, and a built-in altitude barometer, It also has a SpO2 and heart rate monitor, as well as capable of monitoring your sleep quality and stress levels.
Since it has a Bluetooth 5.1 connection to your phone and has a built-in microphone and speaker, you can answer calls through it as well. If you have a Huawei smartwatch, you can quickly transfer photos to it via Huawei Share OneHop so you can make a custom watch face. You can even use it as a remote shutter for your smartphone.
Battery-wise, Huawei says the Watch GT 2 Pro can last up to 14 days of typical usage. Charging is done wirelessly using the USB-C wireless charging pad included in the package.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is priced at PHP 11,999 and is now available through Lazada and Huawei Online Store. Those who purchase until November 13 will get a free colorful speaker and a Huawei Freebuds 3i worth PHP 7,380 for free. It will be on sale on November 13 in Huawei concept stores and dealer stores nationwide. Those who will purchase the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro until November 19 will take home the FreeBuds 3i as a freebie. As for those who will purchase the wearable up to November 26 will get a Huawei Band 4 e.
