Huawei debunks report saying they plan to sell Mate and P flagship series - Android

Since the report came out, Huawei was quick to make a statement debunking it. In a comment issued to the Chinese media, they said they have no plans to sell its mobile phone business and will continue making high-end phones.

How will Huawei’s smartphone business will pursue was not detailed. As you know, the Huawei US ban is still affecting the company badly. For one, it can’t produce chipset since its Semicon arm, HiSilicon, has been prohibited from working with TSMC fabs, MediaTek, and Qualcomm.

Even after Trump’s departure, there’s no light in sight on Huawei’s woes.

A couple of US companies have applied for a special license to work with Huawei. A few of them have been approved. But what’s worse is, weeks before stepping down, the Trump administration has revoked the aforementioned licenses.

It’s also worth noting that Huawei was also rumored to be selling its Honor brand back in October. The company also dismissed the report, which was apparently true.

We remain fully committed to our smartphone business and will continue to deliver world-leading products and experiences for consumers around the world.”
