LG has finally unveiled its unique 5G-enabled smartphone dubbed as the Wing, after a series of leaks and confirmations. The South Korea tech giant said that the device is the first in its Explorer Project, an initiative with a goal to discover more unexplored usability concepts while trying to push for an expansion in the mobile industry.

The LG Wing was initially thought to be a concept phone, but the fact that it will be available almost everywhere gives a different idea. The device is expected to be released next month in South Korea, Europe and North America next, but the date is unknown for now.

The major difference between other smartphones and the LG Wing is that it comes with two displays, which enable users to switch between Swivel Mode and Basic Mode. The front of the phone, when on Swivel Mode, can rotate around 90-degrees clockwise.

It then turns the main display to landscape mode, thereby revealing a 3.9-inch second display, unlocking new functions.

The LG Wing comes with a P-OLED FullVision 6.8-inch main display with aspect ratio of 20.5:9, 2460 x 1080 pixel of resolution. Behind it is a smaller 3.9-inch G-OLED secondary display with an aspect ratio of around 1.15:1 and 1240 x 1080 pixels of resolution.

Since the device comes with two displays, the secondary display can still be used when taking pictures. This function has invariably made the LG Wing the first smartphone in the world to have a Gimbal Motion Camera. In order to capture smoother images and videos with one hand, the secondary screen will serve as a grip to give the necessary stability.

About the cameras, the LG Wing features a triple camera setup on the rear, which includes a 64-megapixel ultra-high-resolution sensor, 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

At the front, you’ll get a 32-megapixel secondary camera with a state of the art selfie shot. The selfie and one of the rear cameras can be used simultaneously in Swivel Mode for recording. The footage can either be saved in two different files or in a single file with a 1:1 or 16:9 aspect ratio.

The 5G smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, paired with either 8GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB of RAM and storage, which is expandable up to 2TB.

Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh battery, which might not be enough when you look at its many functions — like using the two displays at the same time. But no worries, the Qualcomm’s 4.0+ technology Quick Charge support, ensures less time for a full charge.
