The Asian Scientist 100 is getting yet another annual to its magazine and, for this year, it is including 11 Pinoy researchers as part of the listing.

Here are the 11 Filipino scientists and their respective contributions:

  • Dr. Raul Destura, National Institutes of Health (NIH) of University of the Philippines (UP) Manila—headed a team of UP Manila researchers to develop the affordable rapid dengue diagnostic kit. Currently also running a startup company that led to the development country’s premiering, locally-made real time-polymerase chain reaction swab test for COVID-19.
  • Carlos Arcilla, DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute—a leader towards the utilization of nuclear energy aimed at bringing down the cost of electricity in the country.
  • Robert Dizon, DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center—an essential player in the development of the Hybrid Electric Train and Hybrid Electric Road Train.
