The internet received shocking news last week when LG officially announced its exit from the smartphone business, which some took as a blow to the industry that openly welcomes innovation.

Despite that saddening confirmation, the South Korean company is not just precipitously leaving its consumers behind as it leaves the scene—at least, not when it comes to the still needed after-sales support.

In a separate announcement coming from the tech giant, it claims that it will continue providing assistance to its existing premium smartphone consumers lasting for up to 3 years, which is long enough to bring Android 13 to said devices. Meanwhile, other select handsets are also in for temporary continued support, which will bring Android 11 and Android 12 to the lower-tier devices within the same time span.
