If you ask me, this move by Xiaomi merely proves that the firmware upgrade for this version of the UI is just about to be released.
In fact, some insiders are saying that the update will be seeded in two batches or waves within Q2 2021 with the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 11 Series flagship models being given top priority.
According to Xiaomi, these are the compatible smartphone models that will surely get MIUI 12.5 Global Version firmware upgrade within this year:
To check for firmware upgrades on your Xiaomi Android smartphone, simply go to Settings, choose "About phone", tap on the MIUI Version tab, and click on "Check for updates" button at the lower part of the screen. If you see MIUI 12.5 update, simply download and install.
If you don't see the model of your Xiaomi handset in the list, don't fret because other models may be upgraded later. The company advises users to stay tuned for further announcements.

1. 22% less CPU usage when running system applications.
2. 15% less power consumption when running system apps, resulting in improved battery life.
3. Ability to uninstall system apps including Weather, Calculator, Compass, and others.
4. Four different drawing tools using one's fingers.
5. Improved Notes application with Mind Map.
6. Enhanced Drawing Tool that can connect lines and recognize shapes automatically.
7. Easy-access voice recorder for note-taking.
8. Insiders say that MIUI 12.5 will have iOS-like aesthetics, including a new Control Center.
Oh, and one more thing: MIUI 12.5 will come with pre-installed "Super Wallpapers" featuring landscape photos of natural sceneries.
