Microsoft has recently unveiled Microsoft Garage’s latest project, the Group Transcribe. Using a multi-device approach, this app provides real-time, high-quality transcription and translation so users can be more present and attentive during meetings. Group Transcribe will also be part of a strong research tradition at Microsoft which finds new ways to improve speech and language AI.
To use the app, participants have to start a shared session together, with each phone elevated for the microphone to capture an accurate transcript of everyone present.
Users can also leverage the real-time transcription to speak across different languages and make meetings more inclusive. It supports over 80 locales in languages and enables people who are deaf hard of hearing, or non-native speakers to participate by following along the live transcript.
Check out Group Transcribe‘s key features:
• Capable of easily starting a conversation from your phone and easily invite others to join.
• Allows the user to stay focused without the need for him/her to take notes.
• Able to follow the conversation in real-time in your preferred language.
• Stores previous transcripts for the user to browse
• Transcripts would be easily shared with others.
• Supports languages in 80+ locales.
While aiding users with quality, realtime-transcription, and translation, Group Transcribe will help make its AI more accurate and inclusive by enabling its user to contribute to the conversation data. With that in mind, Microsoft is committed to transparency and choice with privacy, also allowing its users to determine what they do share to the application.
The team has also compiled a detailed FAQ regarding the Group Transcribe project and privacy for any users who have questions about how Group Transcribe collects, manages, and uses data responsibly.
Take note that this app is currently available only on iOS. To download the app, head over to this link.
