One of the first smartphones with a Snapdragon 870 processor is now out. Meet the new Motorola Edge S.
The Snapdragon 870 on the Motorola Edge S is the highest-clocked 7nm chipset in the market, with speeds up to 3.2GHz. It’s bundled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
We then have an enormous 6.7-inch IPS screen with a fast 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. Albeit, a 120Hz screen would have taken better advantage of the new chipset.
There are two separate punch-holes on the top for the dual selfie cameras. While on the back, there’s a 64-megapixel main shooter with a bright f/1.7 aperture and can shoot 6K videos. We also have a sharp 16-megapixel ultra-wide PDAF, 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a Time-of-Flight sensor.
Instead of putting the fingerprint scanner on the Motorola emblem on the back like they used to, it’s now on the side as it doubles as the lock/power switch.
Lastly, keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging.
The Motorola Edge S has a starting price of CNY1,999 (around Php14,800) for the 6GB/128GB, CNY2,399 (around Php17,800) for 8GB/128GB, while the 8GB/256GB is at CNY2,799 (around Php20,800). It’s now up for pre-order in China and will ship on February 3. Whether it will arrive in the Philippines or not is yet to be announced.
