Following a serious privacy concern among registered motorists in the country, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) is stretching the imposed cease-and-desist order (CDO) filed against lisensya.info.
The complaint was originally served last November 12 against operators and owners, Billy James Jimena and Jose Minao. As per Section 12 of NPC Circular No. 20-02 (Rules on the Issuance of Cease-and-Desist Order), both of the accused were given a chance to present their defense against the allegation until November 22, 2020.
The NPC gave a stern warning to both Jimena and Minao of facing investigations and prosecution should they fail to comply with the orders or to appear before the privacy agency.

With a false claim of affiliation with the Land Transportation Agency (LTO) through the use of its logo on the website, lisensya.info has been serving as a hub for “Mobile Vehicle Authentication,” which is done through a simple query.
Each search results to a compromising reveal of registered motorist’s sensitive information, such as the vehicle’s plate number, make, chassis number, engine number, registration expiry date, and owner’s name.
The LTO vehemently denied its association with the said website.
Taking part in the matter, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has sent out a memorandum asking ISPs to block access to the illicit website.
