Nissan has unveiled its first all-electric crossover SUV that offers powerful acceleration and smooth, quiet operation, the Nissan Ariya.

Initially displayed at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Ariya is a sleek and seamless EV highlighted by the new shield grille design. It’s also the first vehicle to feature the new Nissan logo with 20 LEDs, sittings in the middle of the shield.

Inside, the cabin is spacious thanks to Nissan’s new EV platform that allows for a flat floor. The entire interior, including the dashboard, takes on a minimalist design, with the climate controls now located on the wooden center dash. The center console can be adjusted to suit the driver’s personal settings.

The Nissan Ariya is equipped with several intelligent features, including the ProPILOT 2.0 advanced driver assistance system, ProPILOT Remote Park, and e-Pedal. It also comes with Nissan’s Safety Shield system, which includes the Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking technology.

The Nissan Ariya comes in four variants, including two two-wheel and all-wheel-drive models. The two-wheel-drive models come with either 65 or 90 kWh batteries, capable of reaching either 450 or 610km on a single charge. The engine can output 300Nm of torque, capable of reaching 100Km/h in 7.5 or 7.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 160km/h.

The all-wheel-drive models, on the other hand, come with the same 65 or 90kWh battery with a lower range of either 430 or 580km. It does, however, feature Nissan’s e-4ORCE electric motor drive system, which combines power with all-weather capability. The twin electric engines can reach higher torques of 560Nm or 600Nm, with a faster 0-100 acceleration of 5.4 or 5.1 seconds, topping out at 200km/h.

The Nissan Ariya will be available in Japan from mid-2021, with an estimated price of JPY 5,000,000.
