Finnish mobile phone company HMD Global, which currently holds the Nokia smartphone brand, plans to give the Nokia 6300 of the pre-iPhone days a second chance at life. Another phone based on the Nokia 8000 series is also set to make a comeback.

Like it did with the Nokia 5310, Nokia 2720, and other classic Nokia feature phones, HMD Global will be reportedly reviving the Nokia 6300 and Nokia 8000 phones and adding new features, most notable of which are 4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi calling support.

If the Nokia 2720 is anything to go by, the revived phones will probably run the Firefox OS fork called KaiOS. Facebook and other social media apps are expected to come preinstalled.

Nokia 6300 was first released in January 2007, while the last addition to the 8000 series, the Nokia 8600, arrived in May 2007. There’s no official announcement yet for the new Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G.
