This time, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia is joining in the game. The brand just recently launched the Nubia Red Magic 5S. The device is the successor of Red Magic 5G, which was only announced in March this year.
The Nubia Red Magic 5S comes with an improved cooling system but has kept most of the specs of its predecessor. The main difference between the two devices is the silver-made cooling system. This technology promises better results in comparison with the conventional copper heat pipes found in most smartphones now. Just like the Red Magic 5G, the 5S also comes with a 15,000RPM spinning fan. This lowers the temperature of the device even if it reaches a charging peak of 55W speed.
As mentioned, the new Nubia Red Magic 5S only comes with minor changes over its predecessor. Similarly, it still sports the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB/16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. In terms of software, it uses the latest Android 10 with Red Magic OS skin.
Upfront, it still has a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an impressive 144Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling. The device also sports a 320Hz touch rate that provides a better gaming experience. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The back, on the other hand, features a large 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main sensor. There’s also an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. Since this is a gaming smartphone, it comes with RGB lights as well. Battery-wise, it features a decent 4,500 mAh capacity with 55W charging.
The Nubia Red Magic 5S is available in a statement blue-red and silver colors. The 8GB+128GB model retails for a price of CNY3,799 or roughly around Php26,700. Meanwhile, the 12GB+256GB is at CNY4,399 or around PHP30,900. Lastly, the top-of-the-line model is at CNY4,999 or around PHP35,100.
The device will be available in China on August 1 and globally in September this year. No word yet if it will be available in the Philippines.
