OPPO has released in the Philippines its latest True Wireless Stereo earphones, the OPPO Enco W51. It features Active Noise Cancellation technology, Bluetooth 5.0, and wireless charging. Check out our initial thoughts below.
The OPPO Enco W51 unit we received is the Floral White model. Like most TWS, the case is made of glossy plastic with rounded sides. It has a squarish form factor with a USB-C charging port and an LED indicator at the back.
Open the case and you will see the TWS earbuds, the function button, and LED status indicator. Upon opening, the LED status indicator will blink briefly to indicate the battery level, then will continuously glow in blue to indicate that it’s ready for pairing. All you have to do next is open the Bluetooth settings on your phone and pair it to the Enco W51. Once paired, you can now wear it.
Like the case, the Enco W51 earbuds are made of plastic in glossy white, except for the reflective part on the housing that provides a rainbow effect depending on the angle. From here, you can also see the tiny strip for the microphone to aid in noise cancellation.
On the other side, you will see the in-ear detection sensor, which pauses the music when you remove the earbuds or resume when worn back. Also found here are the magnetic connector for charging, and at the bottom, the microphone for calls.
The earbuds are very light but feel premium and well-made. Just make sure to pick the right size of silicone tips for a snug fit. Those who want to take it for a run or some regular workouts will find it comfortable even for hours of use. It’s also IP54 water and dust resistant, so it can handle sweat and splashes, including rain.
The OPPO Enco W51 features tap controls:
• Double-tap the right earbud to play the next track
• Double-tap the left earbud to turn on/off Active Noise Cancellation
• Double-tap the right earbud to answer/hang-up calls
• Triple tap left or right earbud to wake voice assistant
Audio quality is pretty good and almost balanced for a 7mm dynamic driver. It handled mids and highs very well. It’s crisp in high volumes without becoming too sibilant. The bass is decent, but we prefer a bit of oomph. Still, it’s clean and good enough for most hip hop tracks we threw at it.
The active noise-cancellation feature works as advertised. After activating, a voice prompt will let you know that it is working. Audio is clearer and more powerful when this feature is switched on so I recommend using this if you want to boost the audio quality. It is great for voice or video calls as well.
For the battery, the earbuds are powered by 25mAh batteries that are capable of providing 4 hours of playback with active noise-canceling off. 3.5 hours with active noise-canceling on. The charging case, on the other hand, has a 480mAh capacity that is enough to provide the Enco W51 20 hours of ANC listening. The case can be charged using a USB-C cable but also supports wireless charging.
The OPPO Enco W51 is priced at PHP 3,690. If you’re looking for a TWS in this budget with a good ANC, then you might want to put this on your list.
