After weeks of anticipation, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro have been made official.
As most of you already know, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will feature cameras co-engineered by Hasselblad, a prominent medium format camera maker. They helped improve the camera science on both cameras. Both models will also have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and upgraded wired and wireless charging.
Let’s start with the star of the show, the OnePlus 9 Pro. It boasts a 48-megapixel 1/1.43-inch main shooter with 1.12 µm pixels. It has all the bells and whistles like Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR), dual native ISO, and 2×2 on-chip lens. OIS is also onboard.
This camera can capture 12-bit RAW images. It even has a Hasselblad Pro mode in the camera app for a more natural look. A 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 ultra-wide lens joins the main camera, albeit the 8-megapixel telephoto camera has a standard 3x lens, no periscope. On the upside, OIS is also included.
The OnePlus 9 Pro also has a killer display. There’s the 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO panel with Fluid Display 2.0 technology. It promises 50% power efficiency, has a dynamic refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The E4 material helps it emmit native 10-bit colors. In fact, it got a DisplayMate score of A+.
Another new feature is the Warp Charge 50 Wireless charging that can do a 1-100% charge in 3 minutes. Warp Charge 65T is also present that drops a full charging time to only 29 minutes.
OnePlus has also improved the design. This machine is sandwiched with curved glass and held together by an aluminum frame. The device also has IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
The OnePlus 9 is still backed by Hasselblad but has an older Sony IMX689 sensor. The 2×2 on-chip lens, 12-bit RAW, dual native ISO, and Hasselblad Pro Mode are still here, but OIS is gone, and the DOL-HDR is replaced with a regular one.
On the upside, the 50-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel monochrome are still present, but the telephoto is gone.
The screen is smaller, older, and less sharp. It uses the first-gen Fluid Display 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen. Still, it has a fast 120Hz refresh rate. It also kept the 4,500mAh battery and Warp Charge 65T. The OnePlus 9 is also the first non-Pro to have wireless charging, but it’s capped at 15W.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro shall be available in the Philippines soon. In the meantime, you can check its US prices below.
