The Philippines has moved 14 places higher in mobile Internet speed rankings, specifically at 96th place among countries all over the globe. Fixed broadband has also improved by three places, now at 100th.
Per the latest Ookla Speedtest Global Index, the Philippine mobile Internet speed averaged at 22.50 megabits per second (Mbps) in December 2020. In comparison, the previous average was 18.49Mbps.
As for fixed broadband, the average download speed has climbed to 31.44Mbps, up from 28.69Mbps in November. At the rate of its increase, the Philippines’ average download will surpass by this month its all-time best record (31.48Mbps) that it reached in February 2020.

The jump to 96th place in mobile is considerably huge, but among other ASEAN countries the Philippines still lags behind. Though the country surpassed Cambodia, it is currently the 3rd slowest in the 10-nation bloc.
Meanwhile, Thailand has overtaken Singapore and Hong Kong to become the top country in fixed broadband, with an average of 308.35Mbps. Singapore remains the best ASEAN country for mobile Internet at 66.82Mbps on average.
