Amid all this, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is giving some slack to professionals by allowing their license renewal application without or with missing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units. The application can be even made online.
Initially set on December 31, 2020, the deadline for accepting the renewal of the Professional Identification Card (PIC) has been moved to December 31, 2021. This is an acknowledgement on the part of the PRC that many professionals have had their options for obtaining CPD units severely limited and restrained by the COVID-19 pandemic. The commission also suggests informal learning, citing professional work experience and self-directed learning as alternative methods for earning CPD credit units.
At https://online.prc.gov.ph, known as the Licensure Examination & Registration Information System (LERIS), professionals can avail of various PRC services including exam application, registration, and verification, as well as the renewal of their professional license. There’s even a handy step-by-step manual (see below) to help users navigate between webpages.
Professionals who need to undertake a license renewal must register an account at the website, which requires their active email address, mobile number, a recent 2-by-2 photo, valid ID and their personal, employment and education information.
PRC license renewal for various professions are available. These professions include, but are not limited to, engineering, teaching, architecture, accountancy, nursing, and other medical or health professions.
Accepted payment options for the online services are through PayMaya, bank transfers (BancNet, Land Bank, UCPB), GCash, and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa and JCB).
If their PRC online license renewal application is approved, applicants may claim their renewed PIC at the PRC branch or satellite office at a time and date of their choosing.
With the enactment of Republic Act No. 10912 in 2016, Philippine professionals are required to earn a certain number of CPD units before they can have their PIC renewed.
