A recent report from the mobile metrics firm, Opensignal, has shown improvement in the Philippines’ internet service over five major regions—North Luzon, Central Luzon, NCR, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—between Q4 2018 and Q3 2020.

The benchmark makes use of the following elements as the criteria for the measure: 4G availability, Download Speed Experience, Latency Experience, and Mobile Video Experience.

According to the Opensignal research, both North and Central Luzon got the most improvement in terms of Video Experience, seeing an increase of 28.6 percent in comparison to the rest which averages at 19 percent.

Interestingly, both South Luzon and Mindanao attained the greatest enhancement in Download Speed Experience, which sees growth by 50 percent. This improvement starkly contrasts that of North and Central Luzon, which both grew by a mere 5.3 percent.

Meanwhile, both NCR and South Luzon achieved the most advancement in the Latency Experience department after showing an increase between 14.5 to 14.7 percent. It counterpoints the finding at Visayas and Mindanao, which are at 3.5 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively.

Looking into the network providers themselves, Globe sees a major improvement in its Video Experience scores in three regions, albeit lower still than Smart. Coincidentally, Smart gets the best score in Latency Experience within NCR.
