We’re seeing more and more budget 5G phones these days, steadily bringing this latest network standard to more people. This time, we have the Realme 8 5G.
From what it looks like, the company coming up with the Realme 8 5G was necessary as the initial model — the one that came with the Realme 8 Pro — was snubbed because it was stuck with 4G.
With that, this new model comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. An upgrade over the Helio G95 carrying sub-6GHz 5G that can offer peak download speeds of 2.77Gbps.
It should also be more power-efficient with its 7nm process versus the 12nm of the former. Albeit being a gaming-centric CPU, the Helio G95 may offer better performance in gaming and day-to-day tasks.
Right on the front, we have a standard 6.5-inch FHD+ screen with a fast 90Hz refresh rate. It has a tougher Dragontrail glass, which the former lacks.
A punch-hole on the top left keeps the 16-megapixel selfie camera. While on the back, we have a 48-megapixel main shooter, monochrome, and macro lens. No more ultra-wide.
Realme also downgraded the charging speed to 18W from 30W. Since it kept the same 5,000mAh battery, expect slower charging speeds on this one.
