AnTuTu’s list of best performing midrange phones for May 2020 have been reaveled.

Last month, the Huawei Nova 7i had the pleasure of ending the winning streak of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. But now, it was stolen back by Xiaomi thanks to the new Redmi K30 5G (6GB/64GB, 317,540) packing the latest Snapdragon 765G processor.

Now, the Nova 7i (6GB/128GB, 310,227) is now at the second spot, still ahead of the Helio G90T-powered Redmi Note 8 Pro (6GB/128GB, 291,785). Clearly, Huawei’s Kirin 810 can compete with the well-praised Helio G90T from MediaTek, so expect to see more Huawei and Honor devices to have it in the future.

The controversial Snapdragon 720G processor made it to the list. However, it put the Realme 6 and 6 Pro in an awkward position. The 720G-powered Realme 6 Pro (8GB/128GB, 284,437) is at the fifth seat, while its more affordable sibling, the Realme 6 (4GB/128GB, 290,700) got a higher benchmark score, putting it above the Pro model at the fourth spot.

Another Snapdragon 720G device is the Redmi Note 9S (6GB/128GB, 277,489), which is on number six. It’s then followed by another Xiaomi device, the Mi Note 10 Pro (8GB/128GB, 273,013) with its Snapdragon 730G processor.

The eight and ninth spots belong to Snapdragon 730 devices. We have last year’s Mi 9T (6GB/128GB, 264,855) and Galaxy A71 (6GB/128GB, 263,520). While wrapping up the list is the Realme XT (8GB/128GB, 235,193) and it’s Snapdragon 712 processor at number ten.

Here are a few takeaways. The first one — although it’s been obvious for years — Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Realme really provides a good price-to-performance ratio. Second, having a large RAM, even with the same processor, doesn’t always translate to better performance.

Lastly, midrange phones have become really powerful that there’s almost no point on spending a fortune on a high-end one. But if you do have the money, you can check out AnTuTu’s top list for flagship phones.
