With just days before the Trump administration ends, the US government slams Huawei yet again. The outgoing administration has notified Huawei suppliers such as chipmaker Intel that their license to sell and supply products to the Chinese company has been revoked.

As reported by Reuters, the US government plans to reject dozens more applications from companies that wish to supply the telecommunications firm. Huawei and Intel has not yet issued any comments regarding the news.

This is the latest, and likely the last, move the Trump administration had done to damage and weaken the world’s largest telecommunications equipment maker. On January 20, Democrat Joe Biden will take oath as the president of the United States.

Huawei was unfortunately caught in the middle of a trade war between China and the US.

In 2019, the US government placed Huawei on the Entity List due to concerns of national security. This prevented companies that use US technology like Intel and Google from doing business with the telecommunications giant.

Since then, the US government has required the suppliers to apply for a license to continue working with the Chinese company.

A few days ago, Xiaomi was targeted and placed on a blacklist for companies with alleged ties to the Chinese military. While not the same as the Entity List, this list stops US investors from investing in the blacklisted company.

Xiaomi has denied all the allegations.
