The Galaxy A42 is now out and it’s Samsung’s most affordable 5G to date. Although the company didn’t technically revealed its price yet.

In addition, the Samsung didn’t reveal the full specs list of the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G yet. Well, other than it has 5G, and a new design. And from what it looks like, it won’t take the “cheapest 5G phone in the market” title from the Realme V3.

The Galaxy A42 5G has a large 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen, with a FHD+ resolution. We’re not seeing a fingerprint scanner on the back, and the lock/power button is protruded, so we suspect it utilizes an on-screen one.

Unlike the punch-hole on other Galaxy A devices, the Galaxy A42 5G has an Infinity-U punch-hole. No mention of the specific sensor, but we expect it to be at least 16-megapixel or 32-megapixel.

The design on the back is unlike any other Galaxy smartphone we’ve seen before. It has a steps-like color gradient design and a 2×2 square camera orientation.

Again, if we were to speculate, the main camera would be at 64-megapixels. An ultra-wide lens and macro cameras are pretty much obligatory at this point, while the small lens on the bottom right clearly suggests it’s a depth sensor.

The company didn’t reveal the processor and battery they used. We suspect the Samsung Galaxy A42 would go with its own Exynos 980, since it’s their cheapest processor to have 5G. The battery should be at least at 4,000mAh with 18W charging.

What we’re certain about is that it will run on Android 10 with One UI 2.5. But other than that, we’re clueless about that this device offer. That’s something we should learn once the device gets a proper launch, which should happen before the year ends.
