Samsung has a built-in feature that lets users find their phone if in case it goes missing. While this feature traditionally works when the device is at least connected to a network, the manufacturer has tied in a new feature that lets users find their device even if it’s offline.

In a tweet, XDA’s Max Weinbach unveiled has Samsung has managed to employ the feature which, as it appears, requires another Galaxy device. True to its name, “Offline finding,” this functionality lets other Samsung Galaxy users search for nearby Galaxy devices in the area.

Alternatively, the same feature can also be used to find missing auxiliary devices, like smart watches and earbuds, granted that the missing item was previously paired in the same device being used for the tracking.

While it is uncertain whether the feature will resonate with all products in the Samsung Galaxy line-up, which, as of right now, is already broad and varied, it is likely that the feature works primarily with recent devices.

Although seemingly novel in idea for Samsung Galaxy users, it appears that the giant South Korean company is not the only one employing the feature. Even Apple, too, has its own version of the same capability, only using a different mechanism than what is shown with Samsung’s Find My Mobile.
