Cashback platform ShopBack has disclosed to its customers that it discovered a data breach incident, part of which is an unauthorized access to customer personal data.

Customers received an email last Friday notifying them about the incident, which ShopBack said occurred a few days prior. 

The company further stated in the email that while it has no reason to believe that any personal data has been misused, it is not discounting the possibility. Investigation is still ongoing.

Among data that may be at risk include contact information, date of birth and other personally identifiable information.

As a slight relief to customers, no credit card information was exposed since ShopBack does not store such information in their system.

ShopBack recommends to its customers changing of passwords. It has also provided a dedicated email address to concerned customers: care@shopback.ph

Launched in the Philippines in 2015, ShopBack lets customers earn rebates from online purchases.
