After 5 years of waiting, fans are finally treated with the new Sony A7s III.

The Sony A7s III came from a line of cameras known for their incredible video prowess and low-light performance. It features a relatively low-resolution 12-megapixel back-illuminated EXMOR R CMOS sensor that’s been stretched out in a full-frame sensor. That’s how you make a camera that’s great for low-light.

On the downside, it lacks 8K video recording, which is a bummer for a video-centric mirrorless camera like this. Albeit, it does shoot 4K video at 120p and 10-bit 4:2:2. You can also record 16-bit RAW at 4K 60p externally through the full-size HDMI port.

The camera also has support for S-Gamut, S-Gamut 3, and S-Gamut3.cine color profiles for easy color grading. XAVC HS format it also present for better efficiency. No video recording caps, either, which was made possible by the new heat-dissipating mechanism.

Under the hood, it’s being powered by the latest BIONZ XR image processor that provides an 8x performance boost over its predecessor. Partnered with the sensor, the Sony A7s III has an ISO range of 40-409,600, 15+ stops of dynamic range, and 3x reduction in rolling shutter.

It can shoot 10fps in burst mode. It can take HEIF format with HLD and 10-bit gradation.

Sony fans would definitely be glad that Sony finally gave in and used a fully articulating screen on the Sony A7s III. It’s a 3-inch 1.44 million dot touchscren. It’s also the first in the world to have an electronic viewfinder with a 0.64-type, 9.44 million dot OLED panel.

The camera has 5-axis in-body stabilization that’s also great for videos. Plus, a completely revamped interface. It also has a dual card slot that can accommodate SDXC/SDHC or CFexpress cards. You can shoot on both cards at the same time, or use the relay mode so you can continue shooting while replacing one card.
